Saeed al-Shihri, al Qaeda's second-in-command in the Arabian peninsula has been killed, the Yemeni defence ministry says. There are conflicting reports, however, as to how the commander died. While the Yemeni military initially said that he had been killed in a ground assault, other officials indicated that he may well have been killed in a US drone strike.
