David Bailey has swapped celebrity cool for the heat of the desert to shoot British soldiers serving in Afghanistan.

The legendary photographer has immortalised supermodels, pop stars and Hollywood A-listers from the 60s to the present day.

But he swapped his studio for a tent after taking the comission to take soldiers' portraits for GQ magazine.

Profits from the shoot will go to the charity Help for Heroes.

Bailey, 72, said he was partly inspired to record what life is like for the Armed Forces in Afghanistan to dissuade his sons from joining up.
