Dramatic footage has emerged of a powerful storm surge hitting the coast of Durban, South Africa.

The video, captured on Sunday, shows the filmer and his friends running away from the surge, which sweeps across a promenade.

According to local reports, Durban has been experiencing a bout of stormy weather, which also forced the cancellation of the Cape Town Cycle Tour.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
